My Story
I grew up in the beautiful land of Northern California and lived there until I graduated from UC Davis in 2010 (Go Aggies!). After college I moved to Washington, DC with no job, no apartment, and no friends, but I eventually found all three and have been loving East Coast living ever since!
I still live in Washington, DC and I enjoy cooking, hiking, running, yoga, and anything else that falls into the "healthy living" category. I have a fella named Chris whom I met in DC but who moved to Chapel Hill to go to business school at UNC. I miss him terribly, but love getting to explore North Carolina with him when I visit!

What is "Coastal Crunch"?
This is a healthy living blog (emphasis on living!) and I love sharing recipes, workouts, and just random daily occurrences that I think you'll enjoy. As far as the name goes: I'm from the West Coast, but I live on the East Coast. That's what the "coastal" part is all about. And "crunch"brings up connotations of things that are all-natural (as in, "crunchy, granola-eating, Birkenstocks-wearing, hippie"), things that are delicious (aka, "crunchy peanut butter"), and things that people do at the gym (à la, "I just did 200 crunches and want to die").
Why Start a Blog?
Because everyone else is doing it. JK! That's a terrible reason to do anything.
Seriously though, I deliberated for a long time about whether I should start a blog. I mean, it's not like the interwebs aren't already overflowing with awesome blogs. And isn't blogging supposed to be (a) time-consuming, (b) technically difficult, (c) narcissistic, (d) over-sharing? After some thought, I decided the following:
(a) Time-Consuming: Yes, blogging is time consuming. But most rewarding things are. I'll get over it.

(c) Narcissistic: I really struggled with this one. But then I started thinking about all the blogs that I love (check out my Blog Roll) and I don't think any of those bloggers are narcissistic. Not even a little. They seem talented, interesting, and generally pretty friendly. In the end, I'm writing this blog to inspire myself and others to live life to the fullest and take advantage of all the wonderful opportunities that life throws at us. Haters gonna hate, but that shouldn't discourage me (or anyone) from doing something that I love and that has the potential to influence people in a positive way.

(d) Over-sharing: Well, this is already my policy for social media: if I wouldn't want my boss/mom to read it, then I probably shouldn't post it. Please forgive me if I ever have a few too many tequila shots glasses of wine and post something mildly inappropriate. I swear I am generally well-behaved.
So anyway, that's why I blog and I am excited to share my adventures with all of you! Hope you stop by regularly and often!
